New Technology

Computer Guided Implant Surgery

The current materials and techniques for dental implants have over a 40 year track record with a very high success rate. New computer software enables viewing a CT scan on the computer, in 3D. This allows pre-planning the actual surgery, making dental implant treatment even more predictable.

After having the CT Scan done, a complete evaluation of the anatomy of your entire jaw, in 3D, is performed on the computer. The necessity for any bone grafting, suitable sites for placement of implants, the exact size of implants needed, and their position and angulations are all determined on the computer, before any treatment is done in the mouth.

Once the surgical plan is finalized on the computer a surgical guide appliance is made.

This new technology not only makes dental implant treatment more predictable, it dramatically cuts down on possible complications during treatment, and can shorten the time needed for the procedure as well. click here to read more about Dental Implants

The Electric Drill

Most dental drills operate by air-driven turbines. The electric motor drill exhibits smoother, quieter operation, and consistently higher torque throughout the entire speed range, than the common air turbine drills. There is much less vibration. The high torque gives Dr. Levine greater cutting power at much slower speed and, therefore, allows us to finish tooth preparation more quickly and with more precision than conventional drills.

Magnification Lenses

Dr. Levine routinely uses special, custom-fitted magnification glasses that magnify everything 5 ½ times. This gives him the ability to see minute detail clearly, thus providing you with an enhanced level of care.

Air Abrasion

When very small cavities are detected on the chewing surfaces or the sides of back teeth, they can often be treated without needles or drilling, by the use of air abrasion. The unit provides a very high-powered stream of air through a tiny, precision nozzle, along with aluminum oxide powder. This conservatively cleans away decay. A white filling can then be bonded to repair the defect.

Digital X-rays

Using digital x-rays allows us to cut the radiation dose down considerably. Digital x-rays are available much faster than old-fashioned film, and it also provides better ability to view and interpret your x-rays on the computer. We can print x-rays instantly and give them to you if you need to see a specialist. We can even e-mail them to those specialists that are equipped to receive e-mail in the office.

Wireless Intra-Oral Video Camera

We are able to show you your teeth on the computer screen and save the pictures, as well. They can be printed out if need be.

Digital Photography

Whenever there are any cosmetic changes planned, digital photos are a great help in planning a predictable result. They can also be used for documenting current conditions and treatment planning, as well.
